Maths
The Glebe Farm School all-through maths curriculum endeavours to cultivate ambitious, creative learners with a strong sense of belonging, fostering a lifelong love of learning and preparing them to be successful citizens.Â
Ambition in our maths curriculum means providing a high-quality mathematical education that encourages the unique potential of each learner. We aim to inspire a lifelong love of learning in mathematics that develops reasoning and problem-solving skills. Our rigorous curriculum provides a range of opportunities to meet the needs of individual learners throughout the school, ensuring a deep and secure understanding of mathematical concepts.Â
We strive to create a strong sense of belonging within mathematics by engaging learners in collaborative problem-solving and discussions, ensuring they develop as responsible, active participants in their mathematical learning journey. We aim to provide opportunities for learners to work collaboratively, sharing different mathematical strategies, and understanding various approaches to problem-solving. All learners from Early Years Foundation Stage to GCSE, are encouraged to take part in activities which engage them as citizens and empower them to recognise both the value and their own potential in applying mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios and contributing to their community.
Creativity is fostered within mathematics by encouraging children to take risks, explore different methods, and think critically to solve problems. Our progressive and sequential spiral curriculum will provide learners with opportunities to develop logical and methodical thinking enabling them to solve a wide range of mathematical problems with confidence and fluency. While the curriculum focuses on mathematical content and skills, the encouragement of creative thinking and problem-solving permeates all areas, empowering learners to become innovators and critical thinkers who can approach challenges with confidence.Â
This all-through spiral curriculum spanning from Early Years Foundation Stage to GCSE, ensures that fundamental concepts are revisited and deepened as learners progress through the school. This all-through approach allows for a seamless transition between the Key Stages ensuring a cohesive educational journey.
