Curriculum Implementation

'We’re an ambitious school, with a strong sense of belonging and creativity at the heart.’

At Glebe Farm, we have designed a bespoke, all-through curriculum which sets out the essential knowledge and understanding for our learners at each stage of their academic journey. Our academic philosophy incorporates three distinct principles: ambition, belonging and creativity - these golden threads are reflected at each stage, subject and objective of our curriculum. Our curriculum is a concept led curriculum that is designed to link learning to ‘big picture’ thinking, building character and cultural capital as well as academic skills and knowledge. Our curriculum is developed not only for the acquisition of knowledge and skills, but the acquisition of character too.

The ABC drivers of our curriculum, Ambition-Belonging-Creativity, firmly underpin all areas of school life and this ensures our curriculum offer is enriching, holistic and personalised to our children, their families and our developing community. We are committed to providing excellence in education through a high-quality curriculum whilst encouraging the unique potential of each learner.

We are ambitious in our delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum that promotes scholarship in each subject. We promote a unified pedagogy which ensures all learners experience high-quality teaching and learning alongside a robust system of assessment. We understand that learning is most successful when it is engaging, challenging and ignites intellectual curiosity. We aim to develop learners who are independent, self-sufficient and resilient, we recognise the importance of these scholarship skills in developing young people who are capable of adapting to the jobs of the future.

Our dedicated teaching and learning team provide specialist, bespoke support for each learner such that they have the best possible platform for personal development, well-being, and high levels of academic achievement. We are committed to providing early intervention strategies to ensure all learners flourish and develop the firm foundations they need to succeed.  We recognise that we are uniquely gifted to maximise the benefits of continuity and progression in our all-through setting, deriving from prolonged monitoring of learners’ strengths and areas for development and the stronger professional relationships that develop within an all-through school.

Our ambition is to cultivate a love of reading and portion a significant part of our week to reading for pleasure, purpose and progress. Our mission is to develop young people with a thirst for knowledge, equipped with experiences and motivated to be a valuable member of their community, the wider world and life-long learners.

We cultivate a strong sense of belonging through our diversified curriculum, ensuring all learners see themselves celebrated in our academic and personal development curriculum. We have our own Glebe Farm identify which is committed to recognising thoughtful and innovative ways to live in a sustainable and ethical way. Sustainability weaves through our curriculum design, equipping our learners with a perceptive understanding of the world around us and empowering them to be responsible global citizens.

Glebe Farm School works hard to lay strong and enduring foundations of character in each and every child by engaging their enquiring minds in the value of community, ensuring that all children graduate as responsible, active citizens, driven in all that they do by a strong moral compass. We develop and strengthen this sense of morality through our values of Integrity, Responsibility, Endeavour, Bravery and Empathy. All learners in Glebe Farm School are encouraged to take part in activities which engage them as citizens and empower them to recognise both the value and their own potential of benevolence and the resulting benefits from community cohesion.

We nurture creativity by providing rich opportunities for our learners both inside and outside the classroom. We embrace and equip our learners with innovative technology, encouraging our learners to be creative, critical and curious. We recognise that the curriculum is not just concerned with academic learning within a formal environment but encompasses enriching and extra-curricular activities. We aim to ensure that British Values are promoted and discussed throughout the curriculum and that careers education is a prominent feature so that children can see how their learning links to the wider world.

At Glebe Farm School, we will encourage children to take risks and to think critically. We will equip children with the skills to present their work in an imaginative and creative way.  Our broad and balanced curriculum will provide children with the opportunities to think outside the box, have new experiences and express their ideas in an innovative way. We place a strong value on arts-based subjects and understand how they contribute significantly to both cultural capital and the wider development of our young learners. We are committed to ensuring our children gain memorable first-hand experiences, are provided with imaginative, thought-provoking scenarios and are encouraged to engage in enterprise and independent projects. As a community, we celebrate our learners’ achievements, showcase their work and strive for success.
