Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium funding was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with learners who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years. Schools also receive funding for learners who have been looked after and learners of service personnel. In addition, the funding now supports those children who have special guardianship orders, but have previously been in the care of the LA.
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to the Academy’s main funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between learners eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers, by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the learners who need it most.
The Pupil Premium is used strategically to ensure maximum impact on attainment. As an Academy we will work hard to support disadvantaged learners. We will regularly review our actions and their impact, and add or remove initiatives to ensure continued success, raised aspirations and to limit social exclusion.
A culture of high expectations and consistency of progress and achievement for all learners is being embedded throughout our Academy, irrespective of gender, race, culture or socio-economic background, and this is enhanced further by ensuring Pupil Premium is used to maximum effect.
At Glebe Farm School:
- We are committed to ‘narrowing the gap’ between all learners and any specific cohort or group of learners.
- We will ensure teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of our learners.
- We will ensure that appropriate provision is made for learners who belong to vulnerable groups; this ensures that the needs of learners are adequately assessed and addressed.
- We reserve the right to allocate the Pupil Premium to support any pupil or group of learners we have legitimately identified as being disadvantaged. • Funds will be allocated following an analysis which will identify priority groups or individuals.
- Not all eligible learners will be in receipt of Pupil Premium interventions at one time.
At Glebe Farm School:
- To close the gap between the disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged learners; • To increase the percentage of disadvantaged learners ‘Working At’ age related expectations and ‘Greater Depth’ in Reading, Writing and Maths.
Is your child eligible for free school meals/pupil premium funding?
Once you have signed up to School Gateway to receive all our communications there is a simple check you can undertake to see if you may be eligible. This notifies the Office Team who will follow this up with you. Louise Davies or Shaaron Forbes would then speak with you asking for you name, date of birth and National Insurance Number to undertake a further check with your permission.
If you qualify, you will receive a reference number that you simply bring in and show us at the school to start receiving meals and the school can receive additional funding to support your child. This additional funding is then spent on resources such as extra staff, books or school trips for eligible children.
